The "beasts" of Revelation 13 The two beasts described in Revelation 13 are among the most enigmatic parts of the Bible, and they have inspired no end of commentary. What is the meaning of these two beasts?
Revelation - book of cosmic symbols To understand the Book of Revelation it is helpful to think of this writing as first and foremost a book of symbols. For example, we see the victorious Christ, riding on a horse (19:11-16). He wields a sword with which he smites the nations. That picture is symbolic of an event and divine power—the return of the Messiah, who destroys the forces of evil. One of our most popular articles! One of our most frequently viewed articles.
Will Christ return? What
do you think would be the biggest event that could occur on the world
scene? For millions of Christians, the answer to this question is
simple: The biggest event that could ever occur is the second coming of
Jesus Christ. The story of the Bible points to the coming of Jesus
Christ as Savior and King.
Who is
the "antichrist"?
The term "antichrist"
can refer to any individual who opposes the true doctrine about the
Incarnation and divinity of Jesus – and his work of salvation as God in the
flesh. "Antichrist" has no specific prophetic application to any living or
dead political leader such as a Hitler, or to any group, such as a so-called
"satanic cult."
Three views of the millennium Some Christians believe that the millennium begins before Christ returns; some believe that it has already begun; some believe that the millennium will come after Christ returns. Some of these views are more literal in their approach to Scripture, and some are more figurative. But none are rejecting what the Bible says — they are just interpreting it in different ways. All of them claim to base their view on Scripture.
